AFA Frontier

In 2009 with less than 1000 Flight Attendants, Frontier Airlines was bought out by Republic Airways. Faced with the reality of a merger and growing frustrated of being overworked and undervalued, and tired of being fearful of company retaliation, it was time to vote for a unionize.

After over a year of campaigning,  Frontier Flight Attendants voted to join the largest Flight Attendant Union, Association of Flight Attendants-CWA (AFA-CWA) on May 20, 2010. Many will say the choice was easy. AFA, the Union option that focused solely on Flight Attendants, beat the competition with over 60% of the vote.

Frontier Flight Attendants even made AFA history, being the first airline to use social media in its organizing campaign and efforts.

"AFA allows Flight Attendants to have a legally recognized voice to negotiate with management and gain protections that are specific to the needs of Frontier flight attendants."

AFA represents over 50,00 Flight Attendants at over 20 airlines.

How Our Union Works

Mission Statement

The Association of Flight Attendants – CWA (AFA-CWA) was founded in 1945 as a democratic member driven union. AFA-CWA’s mission is to unite all professional flight attendants in order to achieve fair compensation, job security, seniority protections, and improved quality of life through organizing, bargaining and political action while serving as the leading voice for a safe, healthy and secure aircraft cabin for passengers and crew alike.

It is a core value of AFA-CWA to promote economic and social justice for all workers through education and action. We are committed to the broadest employment of our members regardless of age, color, disability, marital status, national origin, race, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, and gender expression.

AFA-CWA will continue to preserve and build upon the proud history of our struggles and accomplishments.
